The English ship, the
Hope, was originally built in 1559. We know the
Hope's original dimensions, as many of these were preserved in records:

The
Hope took part in the Armada campaign in 1588, where she was commanded by Robert Crosse. By 1604, she had been rebuilt as the Assurance.
