I just ran the Battle of the Kentish Knock scenario. The key for the Dutch to do well is to stay clear of the English, and fire at a distance. I stopped the simulation at sunset. The Dutch had been reduced to 77%, because I had gotten too close the English, even mixed with them, which was a mistake. The battle had been more lopsided to the Dutch, but ended at 77% Dutch left and 71% of the English.
The Battle of the Kentish Knock is a tough situation, as the English have many large ships, including the Sovereign (90 guns) and the Resolution (88 guns). There are also many 2nd and 3rd Rates, such as the James and Speaker.
